Who We Are

We are Willem and Lidy Wijnker, the proud owners of Tolkerbosch since 1984. Our property is situated east of the hamlet of Tolke, on the edge of the charming historic center of Schagen. It is a unique location offering sweeping views of the beautiful West Frisian landscape.

At this unique location, in late 2020, we created a spacious, country-style group accommodation/apartment, alongside an inviting holiday cottage. Our goal is to offer our guests a warm and cozy stay, where they can enjoy the peace, the space, and the beauty of this part of the West Frisian region.

History of Tolkerbosch

A historic site known to have been inhabited since before 1600. Moreover, it is situated along the Tolkerdijk, one of the oldest access roads to Schagen.

In the 17th century, the farm came into the possession of Adriaan Westphalen, a lawyer from Alkmaar, who described it as a "pleasant, well-situated homestead." At the time, it was known as *Hofstede Tolke*. After he had trees planted around the farm, it acquired the name that endures to this day: Tolkerbosch.

In 1958, the original homestead was destroyed by a fire caused by spontaneous hay combustion. A modern *kop-hals-romp* farmhouse (a traditional style featuring a connected head, neck, and body section) was built on the same site, equipped with a South Holland-style cowshed that was considered progressive for its time.

Today, Tolkerbosch is a place where history and modern comfort come together. A spacious apartment is located in the former hayloft, and the barn at the rear of the property houses a holiday home—a stylish, peaceful retreat set amidst the West Frisian landscape.

Guesthouse Tolkerbosch is easily accessible via the N241. Take the service road into account. If you come by public transport, the distance to the Schagen train station is only 4 km and to the nearest airport it is 63 km.
